Gay Wedding Planning App

My company, 14 Stories, just created the country's first app specifically to help same-sex couples with their wedding plans. Check out the screen shot!

You can get this app at the iTunes store and also the Android market but it looks and works better on Apple (for now). The Droid version still has a few kinks. I hope you enjoy this app. It's a free download and hopefully will help you with your wedding plans!

The vendor directory on the App comes from my friends at SoYoureEnGAYged.comwho have worked so hard to build the largest database of fully-screened wedding vendors in the world. You can trust the vendors on their list to completely have your back! And that makes me very proud to partner with them.

Enjoy!

Gay Weddings in Provincetown

It's the time of year when the winter winds down and I'm dreaming about summer and specifically road trips down to Provincetown, Massachusetts. If you've never been, it's only about the gayest place in America! It's a great little town at the tip of Cape Cod, full of great shops, galleries restaurants and views, and it's a fantastic place for your gay wedding.

There aren't very many venues in town for big weddings so most couples who marry in Ptown have smaller weddings, often on the beach. Here are a few of my favorite Provincetown venues:

The Red Inn - this beautiful inn on the water can't be rented in July or August - and you have to rent every guest room - but it's a beautiful spot for the wedding in Ptown's west end.

The Provincetown Art Association and Museum - I have friends who actually chose this beautiful space for their wedding in June. It's not on the ocean but just across the street. For a modern affair, this is your best spot in Ptown.

Private home rental - I've had several clients rent a private home for a week and have their guests (best for groups up to 50) enjoy a catered wedding on the home's deck. Many homes in Ptown have huge decks suitable for small weddings. This is a great option for the most personalizing of your wedding.

The Year of the Vegetable?

I was at a catering tasting yesterday and heard that 2011 is the "year of the vegetable." That means that Americans are expected to eat more veggies than ever before and veggies will be a big part of wedding menus. Apparently last year was the "year of the pig." Who makes these decisions anyway?

I love this, though. One of the many things that is wonderful about the locally grown, sustainable agriculture movement is that wedding food tastes so much better. I am thrilled that my clients are demanding it.

One of the tricks about this is that sometimes wedding menus aren't set until right before the wedding day - in order to truly work with what is local and available that week. I worked with two wonderful guys from Manhattan who chose one of Boston's top restaurants for their wedding. But because the menu was seasonally changing and they weren't able to make a final trip, they sent me in the Tuesday prior to choose between their possible entrees. Yum!

The great thing about seasonal dishes is that they put everyone in a good mood. Right now strawberries are everywhere and who doesn't love a ripe and juicy strawberry - nothing quite says summer like it. And I think there's something sexy and mildly suspenseful by seeing a wedding menu
that simply says "seasonal vegetables."

Are you serving abundant veggies at your wedding?
